Artist - David Shearing

David was this week announced as one of five winners of the Sky Academy Arts Scholarships at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards ceremony.

The Project:

THE WEATHER MACHINE will be an immersive performance installation exploring the relationship between weather and control. The experience is uniquely creative: there are no actors – the audience take centre stage, engaged in acts of social play and immersed in a poetic and visceral multimedia design. This genre defining work will combine video, sound, text and participation to reveal the theatrical spectacle. The weather remains a frontier of human control. This project takes the audience into the heart of our experience of nature and theatrical design. A tiny spark in the fog, a hidden message in the wind.

Sky, in partnership with IdeasTap, supports young up-and-coming artists, providing funding, alongside senior mentoring to help develop their skills, and take their work to the next level. Five £30,000 bursaries are awarded every year, as well as providing mentors from Sky and the arts industry.
